Who Am I? writing challenge

The following website has writing challenge for September. http://storyofmylifetheblog.blogspot.com.au/2013/08/blogtember-september-blog-challenge.html
I’m not a writer but I thought I would try it out.

Who am I?

I’m a mother, daughter, girlfriend, friend. Some might say ex-wife but I always say I’m single on paperwork. It makes me feel better somehow.

Where do I come from?

I am from a small town in northwest Ohio. I have lived in several places, including Columbus, Ohio. As of today, I haven’t lived in a place that is home since leaving my childhood home. But I have lived with one person that makes every place feel like home.

The people & factors who helped to make you who you are?

My mom and children have influenced my life the most. There is not a more supportive mother than my mom. She is also extremely funny and outgoing.

Becoming a mother totally changed my perspective on life. I wasn’t even sure if I liked children until I had children. And now I love kids.  Who knew?

I could also say that I’m a survivor of viral encephalitis and domestic abuse. If I had to choose one, I would choose encephalitis. The people that helped me deal with the domestic abuse situation were a crucial part of getting my life back on track. I will always be grateful. Without their help, I would still be afraid. It has taken a long time but I feel like it’s okay to enjoy life again.

I’ve listed a website that has resources to help someone in a domestic violence situation.
http://www.helpguide.org/mental/domestic_violence_abuse_types_signs_causes_effects.htm. National Domestic Violence Hotline. 1-800-799-7233 (SAFE).

  1. Well you certainly sound like a survivor… I hit the like button but am now in two minds if that was correct… domestic violence and viral encephalitis, don’t really deserve a “like”, but the fact you were brave enough to share deserves a “like”

    1. True enough. not likeable topics. Thanks for liking anyway. 🙂
