Last Christmas

I found the following holiday prompts at : http://myriad234.wordpress.com/2013/12/21/music-theme-for-december-25-home-for-the-holidays/

Last Christmas, I took the decorations down by noon on Christmas Eve. My kids were fighting the whole morning. So I donated one toy from each to Toys for Tots. I told them I would do it but they didn’t believe me.
So last Christmas, I wanted to run away from home. This year will be understated for sure. A smaller tree, smaller presents and a shorter time spent together. . . So I’m hoping to set some ground rules before Santa visits.
For example, no fighting or yelling. We’re a loud family so there will be loudness. I’m just hoping that no one is mean. No grinches allowed this year.

“Just a small town girl – living in a lonely world.” Concert tickets are practically essential. Musicals are the key to life. I like movies, music, books, and corny jokes.

  1. Sounds like you did what you had to do to teach them how to do better. I am thinking this Christmas they will not try and challenge you. Nice to donate the presents, as some good came from the rough day. Wishing you and your family a fun holiday this year. I am one of 6 sibs so we always were loud and still are with even a larger family now.

    1. Thanks for the encouragement. 🙂 My youngest one went with me to donate. I think she enjoyed it even though it had been her toy. So that was something nice from a terrible day. 🙂
      Merry Christmas to you also!

  2. Hi Holley,
So sorry I didn’t get to this earlier. My life has gotten a little out of hand. So here I sit at 1 am, looking at comments from posts that never got looked at or answered. But this craziness was preceded by some significant realizations and a path forward, so it was rewarding, all in all.

Thanks so much for sharing your reflection about last Christmas. I think you handled it amazingly well. I hope this year was much better. It’s amazing the things we learn from experiences we never thought we would have. And thanks so much for participating in the theme, even if I was negligent about responding sooner. I hope to get around to your blog more often now. 🙂

    1. 🙂 Hope life is getting more manageable. I understand about life getting out of hand.
This Christmas was much better than last year.
Thanks for visiting! Always glad to have you!
