If one of your late ancestors were to come back from the dead and join you for dinner, what things about your family would this person find the most shocking?

Single moms seem to be running the show! Single parent homes are fairly common. However, two-parent homes are still in the majority. There are a variety of living arrangements – single parent co-habitating with a significant other, grandparents raising the grandkids, single dads, adoptive parents. Many kids spend time with both parents like mine do.

I think it would shock the ancestors to see how relaxed people are about living arrangements. No one is being shunned or exiled to a deserted island. No one has to wear a scarlet A. The red A letter makers would be swamped with orders.

It seems like we should wear a letter S for single mom/single dad. I’d wear mine with pride, instead of being ashamed. It would be my pleasure to shock the ancestors.
