Antique: Daily Post

What’s the oldest thing you own? (Toys, clothing, twinkies, Grecian urns: anything’s fair game.) Recount its history — from the object’s point of view.

Well, it’s a close race between the silver tea pot and the Anne Boleyn/Jane Seymour dolls. Of course, I can’t find the dolls. It happens when everything in the house is being rearranged.
I’ve had the teapot since 2007. It was purchased at an antique store. It was made in Rochester, New York. On the bottom of the teapot, I can read “Rochester Stamping Works.” The Rochester Stamping Company was established in 1888 by Albert Pritchard. There’s more history to it but I haven’t found it yet.
The dolls have been in my possession since about 2000. I also have a Queen Elizabeth and Queen Guinevere. They are not even vintage yet. However, they are gorgeous, just like Anne Boleyn and Jane Seymour.
It’s too bad that the teapot is the only one available for a photo opportunity. Queens can be such divas!

  1. Kate @ Did That Just Happen? – I'm an just over 40, single mother of a wonderful teenage boy, who is an endless source of wonder and laughs and gray hair. I may have a small life, but it's full to the brim, and frequently I just have to stop and ask myself "Did that just really happen??" Enjoy!
