While looking for something to watch on Netflix, I came across “Lawless” starring Tom Hardy, Guy Pierce and Shia LaBeouf. The movie is set during Prohibition.
The Bondurant brothers- Forrest, Howard – are moonshiners in Virginia. They run a fairly successful bootlegging operation, so of course they have trouble with the law.
The movie is based on the book, “The Wettest County in the World” by Matt Bondurant, the grandson of Jack Bondurant. Many of the events in the movie are inspired by actual events.
It’s a violent movie so it’s not for everyone. I did enjoy the movie quite a bit. It is one of my go-to movie if I want to watch something with Tom Hardy. Honestly, I almost always want to watch a Tom Hardy movie.
It received a 4 out of 5 on the Keeps-Me-Awake scale. If a movie can keep me awake, then it’s usually good or at least interesting.
