What do you find more unbearable: watching a video of yourself, or listening to a recording of your voice? Why?
If it’s possible, can I be a silent film star? I don’t mind watching myself on a screen; however, I cannot stand listening to my voice. When I get nervous, I sound like Julia Child. No one should sound like Julia Child unless they are Julia Child. I miss her cooking show. She was so entertaining. Now I know what Vichyssoise is and how to pronounce it. I probably won’t ever order it though.
I wonder if Charlie Chaplin, Louise Brooks or Mary Pickford felt the same way about their voices. Not all silent screen stars made the transition to movies with sound. Rudolph Valentino died before talkies revolutionized the movies. Fatty Arbuckle’s career was ruined by being on trial twice for murder.
On the other hand, Jackie Coogan had success with “The Addams Family.” Who doesn’t love Uncle Fester?
Some pictures of me. I’m so ready for Halloween! 🙂 And a nap. The last few days have been exhausting. But I’m on the mend, I think.
