Museo de las Americas.

The Museo de las Americas was a last minute addition to our Denver trip.
The museum, located the arts district, has works from Latino American artists. The exhibit that was on display was “Outside in 303.” It featured graffiti artists from the area. The artists in the exhibit were Jack Avila, Javier Flores, Josh Rogers, Mario Zoots, Josiah Lopez, Victoriano Rivera and Gabriel Salazar.
My personal favorite was the black and red paintings of Darth Vader and Storm Troopers. The little boy on the corner with spray paint was a little creepy. It would have been great if he could’ve made a painting of Darth Vader for me.
Lucas liked the work by Mario Zoots. It was pretty cool.

I wish that I could go back in October for the “Unlikely Thoughts” exhibit. There is going to be at least one painting of a mermaid. I think Ray Martin Abeyta will be displaying “Un Amor perdido.” I’m going to find out if I can get a print somewhere.

There are various activities, such as workshops, Spanish happy hour, artist lectures and interactive art with the artists. During the First Friday event, the entrance fee is free.
The museum’s website is http://www.museo.org.
