When was the last time a movie, a book, or a television show left you cold despite all your friends (and/or all the critics) raving about it? What was it that made you go against the critical consensus?

Have I ever mentioned that I really hated the movie “Barton Fink?” I really hated it. John Goodman was the only good thing about the movie and he was evil.
What did I dislike so much? I just didn’t like the title character played by John Turturro. Don’t get me wrong, I like almost all of John Turturro’s movies, except this one. The movie was kind of slow. Nothing really happens until the last five or ten minutes. The whole time we watch Barton Fink try to be a screenwriter. It’s not a very interesting life. There is nothing interesting about Barton Fink, except that he knows John Goodman’s character. Even John Goodman’s character isn’t interesting until the last ten minutes.
I’ve seen tons of terrible movies. I like this movie less than “Howard the Duck,” “The Godfather 3” and “RoboCop 2.” It’s possible I still dislike “Hellraiser 2” less.
The critics seemed to like it. The movie won a few awards.
Here’s a review by Roger Ebert.
