Do you give yourself time to heal, or do you keep making yourself move forward?
I’m not sure. It’s possible that I rush through the healing process. However, I’ve been known to mope around the house for a couple days with tissues and ice cream on standby. I listen to sad songs and watch depressing movies until it drives everyone else crazy. Old school country and classic R& B are the best for moping around the house. No one can really compete with Patsy Cline or Etta James in the sad songs category. The boyfriend will hide out upstairs with the heavy metal until I change the Pandora station.
Then I bounce back, even if it’s a little bit at a time. I stop watching sad movies and listening to sad songs for awhile. It’s not good to dwell for so long. Also, if it goes on too long, I’ll have to buy the sugar-free/fat-free ice cream. It’s a vicious cycle – eat ice cream, gain weight, be sad, eat more ice cream.
