Basic Bitch out of Water: Daily Post

When was the last time you did something completely new and out of your element? How was it? Will you do it again?

Over the weekend, I did an interview with a band in person. We went to a bar that we had never been to before in a town that we’re not from.

I may have had a shot of rum because I was so nervous. Have you ever asked for Malibu in a punk rock bar? Well, I have. They didn’t have any. I felt so basic. I’ve never felt basic before.

Usually, I can do an interview without worrying about how my hair looks or if I have spinach in my teeth.

I don’t have to worry about what I’m going to wear. Doing a live interview gave me a chance to pick out something new to wear.I did find an awesome “No Sleep til Brooklyn” shirt just like this one.

I might have to do only live interviews from now on. Maybe I can redo my whole wardrobe by the end of the summer. So 15 interviews = 15 new outfits = new wardrobe = awesomeness.

So I’m pretty sure the band did not care what I wore or how my hair looked. Next time, we can compare our new tattoos or something.

If you want to see the interview, it just posted to the Huffington Post. I’ve been doing “Basic Bitch Huffington Post Punk Rock” dance around the house. It involves a lot of spinning.

  1. rgemom – Working my way, imperfectly, through the mothering of three children. Still figuring out who I am and what I want to be when I grow up. Mom, wife, shuttler, writer, wanna-be photographer, journal-er of life, runner, scrapbooker, volunteer, music-lover. Our oldest son was born 14 weeks too soon. Our daughter arrived 12 1/2 months later (8 days past my due date). Our youngest is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder, PDD-NOS. I write about it all.

Sounds like a fun night!! PS…I’ve been basic once or twice. You’re right – it isn’t too much fun. Glad the interview went well. And I’m all for new wardrobes!
