Sleep Deprived Music Review: I’m With Her

Are you a sucker for musicians that can harmonize? What if you add a violin and an acoustic guitar? If you’re like me, then you’re sold. Done. You want to say, “Here!! Take my money!”

I’m usually a little skeptical of listening to the new release section of Spotify because it’s like wading through the muck. Today, I was rewarded for listening to the muck. After skipping many, many songs, “Game to Lose” by I’m With Her played and I was sold in the first ten seconds.

I’m With Her has a new album, See You Around, available on Spotify and iTunes. The group members include Sara Watkins, Sarah Jarosz and Aoife O’Donovan.

It’s difficult to pick a favorite song. They are all excellent.

Their music has a hint of country, pop and bluegrass. These are not the genres that I usually listen to on a regular basis. Good music is good music.

I won’t pretend that I’m not listening to I’m With Her when their video playing on my YouTube station. My kids have already caught me listening to Chris Stapleton. What’s one more countryish band?

Things that I love about See you Around:

  1. It reminds me a little bit of Joni Mitchell.
  2. Everything is simple and complex.
  3. Harmony. Harmony. Harmony. So much better than 5th Harmony – in my opinion.

Not so great things:

  1. It has to end eventually. Unless you put it on repeat . . .
