The requirements for being in Hey, Chels are probably that you have to have cool shoes, not be named Chels or Chelsea and also be musically inclined.
The album came out in September. It was produced by Patrick Ryan Heaney, who has worked with Cage the Elephant. So the album was inherently cool before it even got off the ground.
There’s a song called, “I Know You Are But What Am I?” I love it. It might not be a reference to the Pee Wee Herman movie but it still makes me giggle a little bit.
The Hey, Chels lineup includes Jacque Mendez, Ricky Schmidt, Kevin White, and Steph Presz. The band members were in New Way On, The Newports, Squarecrow and Western Settings prior to forming Hey, Chels.
If we learn the words to their songs, we could all be singing to this album in the car or at a Hey, Chels show. That’s my plan anyway. There’s still time to learn the lyrics. Hopefully, they will be coming to a town near you soon. So check out the album and get ready to sing along.
