Heather Woods Broderick is an amazing singer/songwriter. She brings her truth to her latest album, Invitation. She’s a genius.
The story behind the album is that Broderick took some time off from touring. During the time off she cleaned houses in Pacific City, Oregon. When she wasn’t at her day job, she was writing songs.
It’s how so many musicians start out – they work during the day and play music in their spare time. Maybe it’s hard to write songs when you’re always touring or always in the studio. Always seeing the same people and having the same experiences like your life is on a loop. There’s not much creativity when you are in the loop.
I am really enjoying this album. This year, I’ve been trying to listen to music that I can either listen to while thinking about things or dancing around the house. Invitation is definitely a great album to play while contemplating life.
