Sleep Deprived Music Review: Jah9

Mad Professor meets Jah9 in the midst of the storm

How does it feel? On the Mad Professor Meets Jah9 in the Midst of the Storm album, Jah9 sings like she is on a spiritual journey. She has invited us to listen.

The album is a mixture of reggae, dubstep and jazz. The long album title reminds me of poetry. The title is a great first line to a poem and the body of work in the album. My personal favorite song on this album is “Lioness Order Dub.”

Jah9 is from Trelawny Parish, a rural area of Jamaica. She moved to Kingston, where she was introduced to dubstep and reggae. Although Jah9 wrote songs before moving to Kingston, her songwriting style changed after moving.

If I were on a quest for enlightenment or going to go on a walkabout for middle aged women, then I would want this album on the playlist.

I could be the worst cook in America. My boyfriend tells his friends about my cooking disasters. I'm glad someone is amused. I like movies, music, comic books and corny jokes.
