Indie punk rock band, WIVES, will be releasing their debut album, So Removed, on October 4. It will be available in all of the usual places.
It sounds like punk and grunge. If MC5 and Stone Temple Pilots had a musical baby, it would be WIVES. Call me crazy but I like punk rock bands that actually have decent voices and can play their instruments.
So WIVES fits the bill. Their sound is loud, distorted and sometimes like they are singing into a can but it’s all good. Punk rock . . . It was hard to pick a favorite song on the album. The top three favorites are “Hit Me Up,” “The Future is a Drag” and “Waving Past Nirvana.”
WIVES are from Queens and Brooklyn. I’d like to listen to this album in New York City or while pretending to get ready for a night out on the town. Maybe if I listen to the album I will actually go somewhere.
Speaking of going somewhere. WIVES will be going to Europe in November. They have a show in New York on October 3. Their last show in the US before heading to Europe is October 5 in Philadelphia.
WIVES is Jay Beach on guitar and vocals, Adam Sachs on drums, Andrew Bailey on guitar, and Alex Crawford on bass.
