Favorite Shows for #Spooktober: The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is loosely based on “Sabrina the Teenage Witch.” Think of the Netflix adaption as the darker, spookier sister of the 90s sitcom. Both shows are based on the comic book series, Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” which debuted in October 1962.

So far there are two seasons with a third season more than likely coming to Netflix in 2019 or 2020. I cannot wait to watch the next season. I would have read more of Sabrina the Teenage Witch comics but it’s possible that no one in my family wanted to buy anything witchy or non-Christian.

Sabrina lives with her aunts, Zelda and Hilda, and cousin, Ambrose in Greendale. Salem, the cat, also lives with Sabrina. You might recognize Zelda, played by Miranda Otto, from the Lord of the Rings. Aunt Zelda might be my favorite character. She’s terrible yet delightful.

At the beginning of the series, Sabrina is a nearing her 16th birthday. She must decide whether she will go through with her dark baptism or continue with her life as a powerless mortal. She struggles through both seasons with the good and bad within her.

Some people are horribly offended that the witch coven sign their soul over to Satan. It’s a deal breaker for really devout Christians. Personally, I don’t think watching the show will make me . . . anything . . . Christian, Pagan, Satanist. I haven’t committed to anything spiritual yet and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina isn’t going to change that fact.

“Just a small town girl – living in a lonely world.” Concert tickets are practically essential. Musicals are the key to life. I like movies, music, books, and corny jokes.
