This year has been unexpected to say the least. I can’t say that everything for me personally was terrible. I can’t say it was the most awesome year either. It was a roller coaster.
So far I’ve been mostly healthy – except for anxiety, one cold at the beginning of the pandemic and kidney stones. It wasn’t perfect but I’m thankful anyway. The kids have also been mostly healthy. (Super thankful for kids still being healthy.)
This year I read a lot of books. It’s at 44 books right now but it might be more in the next few days. There were so many good books I can’t pick a favorite. Top 5: The Bear and the Nightingale, The Water Dancer, The Smallest Man, Amari and the Night Brothers and The 8th Life.
Lucas and I watched every BuzzFeed Unsolved episode ever made: True Crime and Supernatural. The guys from BuzzFeed Unsolved, Ryan and Shane plus Steven, have a new channel called Watcher. My favorite show at the moment is Puppet History. I love history and puppets. I also watched just about every episode of Drunk History. I love history and listening to drunk people tell stories.
My favorite present to myself was an Ol’ Dirty Bastard/Wu Tang Clan sweatshirt. You’d think I was an extra in Mariah Carey’s Fantasy video with how happy I was when it finally arrived. My oldest kid gave me a He-Man Funko pop, which I was pretty excited to receive.
My youngest kid has been walking around singing a Fugees song. She’s said she knows I like them. I guess she’s been paying attention to what I’m listening to. She said she hasn’t read the blog yet.
I started to rip up the carpet in the living room but then the kidney stones arrived and I was down for the count for about a month. One of my few resolutions is to finish the living room in 2021.
So the house and my mental health are still in limbo. It’s like Melancholy and the Infinite Sadness around here. Let’s hope things turn around soon.
I’ll post all of the statistics that I have for 2020 in case you were wondering about any of that sort of thing. It’s hard to say if any of the stats mean anything in the whole scheme of things . . . However, I am happy that you guys still read the blog after all of this time. I am grateful for all of your visits, likes and comments.
In the words of Alicia Keys:
I don’t want to forget the present is a gift
And I don’t want to take for granted
The time you may have here with me
‘Cause Lord only knows another day
Here’s not really guaranteed
