Cold Case Quest: Susan DeNoma

5490 Beechmont Avenue, Cincinnati

On May 20, 1982, Susan DeNoma’s mother went to Susan’s apartment to check on her since she had not gone to work. Her mother found her body in the bedroom of her Cincinnati apartment. Susan had been stabbed but the cause of death was strangulation.

The police eliminated a possible suspect in 1994. There was one other suspect who they could not eliminate. After obtaining a lawyer soon after the homicide, he was not questioned any further. It seems doubtful that the police obtained a DNA sample.

In August 1995, while living in Florida, this suspect murdered his wife and then committed suicide. He left a note mentioning a murder in Cincinnati that he was suspected of committing. It seems as though he denied committing the murder in Cincinnati. It seems suspicious that he committed the murder/suicide not too long after a different suspect was eliminated. Did he commit other murders in while living in Cincinnati?

It is still possible to charge someone with a homicide after their death. Have the police obtained a DNA sample in order to eliminate or charge their last known suspect?
