The Cocktail Slippers: Sleep Deprived Music Review

the cocktail slippers

On a dreary day, it is good to listen to music that is fun and lively. The Cocktail Slippers of Oslo, Norway definitely fits the bill for rock and roll that will lift your spirits.

The Cocktail Slippers have released a new album, Shout It Out Loud. My favorite song on the album is “You and I.” “She Devil” is probably the second favorite song.

They remind me of The Go-Gos but with less of the California/surfer vibe. The Cocktail Slippers participate in every aspect of making their albums. The band produced the album with Stevie Van Zandt and Mike Hartung. They are also songwriters. “We write all the time, and we can write about anything!” explains Rocket Queen. “But we’ve learned that writing is often about re-writing.”

If I could listen to this album, it would be at a roller derby match. I can imagine The Cocktail Slippers playing at and maybe even participating in a roller derby event. Can you picture it? I could bring my new skates and do an interview – in between falling and laughing. My spirits are already lifted because of The Cocktail Slippers. The band can be found in all of the usual places on the Internet.

  1. These ladies are a blast, and I love some of their names – Rocket Queen and Miss A-OK. I always enjoy your reviews Holley, as you’re so descriptive and funny. Case in point: “If I could listen to this album, it would be at a roller derby match. I can imagine The Cocktail Slippers playing at and maybe even participating in a roller derby event. Can you picture it? I could bring my new skates and do an interview – in between falling and laughing.”
