Black History Month Book Tag

In honor of Black History Month, I’m going to do a book tag related to Black History Month. Actually, the book tag is the Black Blogger Book Tag on Rae’s Reads and Reviews and also ZeZee with Books.

I want to tell you about some amazing books related to Black History Month. However, I do know about books. I read just about anything by everyone, except for cookbooks.

Please visit Rae and ZeZee also. They have really wonderful blogs. Hopefully, you read something interesting for Black History Month.

Tell us a little bit about yourself!

I am not black but I am an ally. The only interesting thing about my DNA results was the 6% Italian and 2% Sardinian that popped up. Someday I hope to be a Nona but I might be closer to a Strega Nona (Grandma Witch).

My favorite genre is magical realism. I’m going to participate in Book Riot’s Read Harder Book Challenge again this year. Last year, I read many books that were much different from what I usually read.

WHO’S A BLACK AUTHOR YOU LOVE THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT?

Veronica G. Henry

I just finished Bacchanal by Veronica G. Henry. It is Henry’s first novel. I loved it. Henry will be having another novel, The Quarter Storm, published in March.

FAVORITE BOOK ABOUT THE BLACK EXPERIENCE:

black history month. the hate u give

Starr Carter is a great character. It’s just my opinion but you can hear and understand Starr. People should listen – like really listen – to each other. I loved The Hate U Give even though it made me incredibly sad at times.

FAVORITE BOOK BY A BLACK AUTHOR:

The Water Dancer is an absolutely beautifully written book.

RECOMMEND A BLACK + QUEER BOOK.

Sorrowland is one of my favorite books. It is very unique.

RECOMMEND A BOOK WITH A BLACK PERSON ON THE COVER.
