Poetry Maybe #30: Argyle Sock

will the race to rescue
the constantly stalked, harassed, kidnapped
women be victorious?
we think they are cloistered
in some dude's basement
he is determined by serial killer rules
to have 3 first names at all times.
Larry Wayne Keith . . . Billy Joe Henry

They think are so clever
to cheat the system
and ruin women at the same time

Mr. 3-Names enjoys leaving women
in the wilderness with nothing
cotton undergarments and argyle socks
to run over roots and pine needles
on the forest ground
he just waits for them to fall and squash
their fear by falling into a pit or a bear trap

One woman knocks him out

before she runs

She already memorized his license plate

before finding some rustic tool

to hide in her pocket

or in their argyle sock

this woman has power and

won't be stopped

by some dude who lives

with a mountain of regrets

and tin ashtrays

why agree to be less than Mr. 3-Names

His seed won't sell at the market

Look at how he has to harass

and rob one person of liberty

he will finally get noticed by the horde

that he sees in her wildwood eyes

this woman can innovate a million

ways to sideline her conscious selves

to do one gruesome thing

so she can continue to live

even if people don't

remember any of her names

She is instinctive

This woman knows

She will still be standing

in her own form

taking action

wearing just one argyle sock

“Just a small town girl – living in a lonely world.” Concert tickets are practically essential. Musicals are the key to life. I like movies, music, books, and corny jokes.
