Poetry Maybe #39: Ring of Crowns and Quicksand

Ring of Crowns and Quicksand

dropped beads of force
into ring of crowns and quicksand

wasted power that you never had
now you smell of worry

flashy smiles decorate film
take the steel scissors
away from your
imaginary frenemy

chilly tricks and treats
cinnamon or a twig
trashy soap
cannot persuade anyone

to give up the crown

protest the cost of coffin nails,
grifter beauty competitions
and acquiring clip-on teeth
so you can be wounded

for the 1901 facelift invention

Only to lose the crown

in the quicksand

“Just a small town girl – living in a lonely world.” Concert tickets are practically essential. Musicals are the key to life. I like movies, music, books, and corny jokes.

  1. Now I want to see a horror movie… Maybe trashy beauty queens using nail guns to shoot coffin nails at each other’s clip-on teeth, so distracted by the action that they both end up disappearing into the quicksand.
