Ithaca: Sleep Deprived Music Review

You think you’ve made your escape

But we’re catching up again

Ithaca of London is playing their defiant hearts out on their latest album, They Fear Us. I don’t know who “they” is but they should be scared because Ithaca is coming for them.

Ithaca is intense metalcore with a bit of feminine touch. The band’s sound is not feminine like your grandma’s house with crocheted doilies and cookies. Their vibes are more like your crazy, brilliant aunt Sunny who is out in the street everyday fighting the local Karens.

Lead singer Djamila’s voice is abrasive and empowering. The rest of the band is magnificent. Together they are perfection.

The current lineup of metalcore perfection includes Djamila Boden Azzouz, James Lewis, Will Sweet, Dom Moss, and Sam Chetan-Welsh.

My personal favorite song on the album is “The Future Says Thank You.” I wonder if I am old enough to know the secret combination mentioned in the song? Perhaps.

From what I have read, the band will not be a fan of yours if you are a racist Nazi piece of shit. They don’t need those kind of fans anyway. My oldest kid will probably love this band. I’m going to send the links as soon as possible.

Hopefully, Ithaca will tour the United States in the next year or so. Until then, I will listen to this album when I need to channel my anger or get motivated in some way. Some of us need a little help from Ithaca to kick ass on a daily basis.

  1. Wow, they’re amazing! And even more so because they abhor racist Nazi pieces of shit.

    1. 100% true! Always glad to support bands that are not racist or Nazis. 🙂
