Front Lines of Journalism . . . Not so Much but Maybe I Should Reconsider

Would you ever want to be on the front lines, reporting from a conflict? Why or why not?

If you mean on the front lines of the war between music genres then yes. I don’t think there’s a music war per se but if there was one I would be there. It means being close to the mosh pit, I know. Getting kicked in the shins on a regular basis and fighting off groupies to get close to the musicians. Music war is hell. Or it would be if it really existed.

However, I’m not sure if I want to be on the front lines during a war, a skirmish or a conflict. I would do it if I was a photographer. I’ve not had the opportunity to be on the front lines of a war. Mostly because I have stayed in Ohio. Nothing happens in Ohio. No, that’s wrong. The Kent State incident happened in Ohio. Since then, nothing has happened in Ohio. This photograph is the one that I always think of when I think of Kent State.

Since I have a camera, I don’t really need to ask questions. Usually, when I take a picture, the question is, “What was it like?” The picture is the answer.

Here are some photographs that are also the answer to the question, “What was it like?”
