Original 📸: John Christou Photography

Who: J and the 9s are one of my favorite bands. They are a glam punk band originally from NYC, currently based in LA.

What: They have released three new singles in the last few months. Check out all of their music at the links below. Share with your friends and maybe some strangers. (Then they won’t be strangers, right?)

Why: J and the 9s have an RV with a stage on top. They love animals, babies and rock n’ roll.

Who: Dig Two Graves

What: Progressive metalcore from New Jersey

Why: In the words of EDM artist Son of Michel: “I’m an edm artist and music producer who loves blending genres and making sounds that will hopefully catch the attention of more ears as I continue to create. Flawless Friday Video: Jessie Wagner

If you are looking for an artist to support – check out Jessie Wagner. The “End of Time” video is retro, positive and fun. Her twitter profile says that she is a dork by choice. Who can relate?

I was so glad to watch it today. No regrets. Will probably watch the video a hundred more times.

Wagner, who was a singer for Lenny Kravitz and Duran Duran, will have a new album out soon. This is the link to pre-order.

Card Reader of Long Island have a new album available in all of the usual places. Hopefully, they will become a “familiar voice” to everyone. So far I enjoy their music more than I expected. It was a pleasant surprise.

Check out their video for “Familiar Voices” so you can also have something pleasant in your day . . . in a totally rockin’ way of course.

Sleep Deprived Music Review: BOYO

“Where Have All My Friends Gone” by BOYO- aka Robert Tilden- is different than most of the music that I listen to. It seems like he is doing things differently than before. The musician had a health scare in 2017, which led to a long road to recovery. So here he is after a few years with a new album.

“The experience shaped my perspective but it inherently shaped the album as well,” Tilden says. “I use music to work through my problems and things I don’t understand, so this record has been a one-sided therapy session in a way. It doesn’t have to be this brooding, dark thing; it can be more connective.”

It reminds me of some shoegaze music but not anything specific. My favorite songs on the album are “Southern Gothic” and “Forget It.” BOYO is experimenting with his sound. It’s cool though. I’m always interested in hearing a person’s story through music or writing.

I’d like to listen to this album at a hipster coffee shop somewhere. I don’t have any friends either. Maybe there will be future friends at the coffee shop. We could bond over how creepy the cover of this album. It’s the stuff of my nightmares but I cannot look away.

Anyway, check out BOYO’s links if you get a chance.

Sleep Deprived Music Review: Meet Me At the Altar

Bigger Than Me

Meet Me At The Altar’s EP, Bigger Than Me, has all of the energy that most of us wish we had.

Their style is pop punk. I think they would still be a good band if they went a little more punk or even if they were more pop. They could be successful in whatever genre they choose.

The band name reminds me of that 90s song, “Let’s Get Married.” I wonder if Meet Me At The Altar would ever do a remake. It would probably be cool.

All of the band members are from different states. It’s a miracle that they even met. They are making the long distance band relationship work.

If I listened to this album while working on re-doing the floors, would I make more progress? Totally possible. DIY projects require a lot of energy. Meet Me At The Altar could be the band that gets me through the next few weeks.

Flawless Friday Video: The Districts

The Districts

Check out this video by The Districts of Philadelphia. It will make you think a bit and maybe laugh. I mean, the lead singer reminds me of my dad in the 80s but one of them is a better dancer.

Also, they have many links to worthwhile causes on their linktree page that can be found at the bottom of this post.
