Convincing You To Be Pro-Active: NaBloPoMo

Convincing You To Be Pro-Active: NaBloPoMo

If you could persuade people to do one thing right now, what would it be?

If I could persuade people to do something, it would be to get them to actually do something. It wouldn’t have to be what I want you to do – like recycle or buy from Etsy stores.
There are tons of things we could all be doing besides watching television or stalking people on Facebook. How many times have you heard someone say, “That chick is the best reality t.v. viewer of all time. She has really made a difference in the world.” No one says that because watching t.v. or playing games doesn’t make a difference in the world. Stalking may make a difference in someone’s life. It’s just not the positive one that we should be striving towards.
We can do numerous volunteer activities. I’m sure that if your kids are in school, they need help. Hanging out with your own kids can be fun sometimes. Life is hectic but we should make memories with our kids while we can.
If you don’t have kids, Big Brothers Big Sisters is an option. So maybe kids are not your cup of tea, there are still many volunteer opportunities that don’t involve children.
On the other hand, you may want to see the world, take dance lessons or write a best-selling novel. Whatever it is that piques your interest, you should do it.
There’s no shame in getting a job either. Lots of people are doing it. Seriously, wouldn’t a job be better than daytime television? I’ll watch soap operas again when I’m really old and people have to show me how to use the remote several times a day.

P.S. I love reality television. But I think it has rotted my brain a little. I’ll be over here writing a best-selling novel.

But first, let me explain why this year is called the Year of the Wood Horse.

Chinese elements and colors of the Wood Horse

Just like in Western astrology, there are 12 zodiac signs in the Chinese horoscope. However, since the Chinese system is based on EARTH WISDOM, each sign is denoted not by a celestial body, as in Western astrology, but by an earthly animal totem.

Although there are only 12 animals in the Chinese Zodiac wheel, in actuality each year configuration can repeat only every 60 years, and here is the reason…

The Jamaican Bobsled Team will be competing at the 2014 Olympics! Due to the generosity of online donations, the team raised the funds needed to attend the Olympics in Sochi.
It will be interesting to see if they have continued to improve since the 2002 Olympics. They did not qualify for the 2006 or 2010 games.
The Jamaican team have the speed and more experience than in the 1988 games. Let’s hope the speed and skills can get them to the medal stand.
Go Jamaica!!

Here is a video of the 1st Jamaican Bobsled team in 1988:
