With only my laptop to keep me warm

Last week, my critiquing partner mentioned a website called Scribophile. I visited the site a day or so later. I think I might be in love with this website. If I improve my stories at all, I might even marry it. It’s that serious.
The critiquing system is a based on karma. By this I mean that you have to critique a few stories before anyone else can read your work. It keeps one writer from submitting fifty chapters without reading anything because we all know that would happen.
Everyone who critiques must follow a code of conduct. There is to be no bullying or anything mean-spiritedness. If anything like that happens, you will get kicked off of the playground.
When you log back in, the heading says “We missed you!” While you are typing your entry, the heading reads “Your lovely words.” It’s very encouraging. Most writers need encouragement of some sort.
Most genres of writing are included. So if you like to read and write young adult novels with a paranormal twist, there will be something for you to read. There are also groups to join so you can be notified when new entries in historical fiction are posted. (That’s a good idea, I might do that. I love historical fiction.)
Yesterday, I posted my first story. The feedback has been objective and extremely constructive. The other writers were honest about what was good and bad. They aren’t your mom and won’t sugarcoat anything. However, we will be better writers in the long run.

      1. You can use a pen name, if you don’t want to use your real name. It’s an option ๐Ÿ™‚ I think you’re brave enough with or without a pen name.
