You’re asked to recite a poem (or song lyrics) from memory — what’s the first one that comes to mind? Does it have a special meaning, or is there another reason it has stayed, intact, in your mind?
This song about the black socks is the only song that I can remember besides “Happy Birthday.” Why?! I have no idea. I wish I could remember other things – like The Gettysburg Address or what our deepest fear is. Or knowing where my name badge is. I know where the second one is. I can’t find the first one.
So why do I remember this song from elementary school? I think the music teacher put a spell on us. She even said, “You will always remember this song.” She was right.
This is a quote that I wish I could remember. It is wonderful. I can’t say the same for “Black Socks.”
