Johnny Wore Black: Album Review

PromoImage

When I saw the album cover for “Walking Underwater” by Johnny Wore Black, I thought I would really enjoy this album. I was wrong.  Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the music as much as the cover. Seriously, I would frame the photograph and hang it on the wall next to Manu Bennett.

It’s not that the music is terrible. The musicians are good. The lyrics are fine. On the other hand, most of the songs sound the same.

The things is that the singers voice got on my nerves. His voice seemed to fall flat. I was expecting someone that sounded slick, like Robert Palmer. I was hoping for a voice that was a little bit gritty. You know, a voice with substance, like Robert Plant. Johnny Wore Black sounds a little bit like the Pet Shop Boys.  I didn’t like the Pet Shop Boys either.

I’ve included several links. Check them out. Let me know what you think of the music.

“Just a small town girl – living in a lonely world.” Concert tickets are practically essential. Musicals are the key to life. I like movies, music, books, and corny jokes.

  1. I clicked the video and the music wasn’t awful… it wasn’t great either. I didn’t watch it because the video itself was pretty bad. I kept getting distracted by how bad it was. ^_^ So I looked away so I could listen to the music.
