What’s the best piece of advice you’ve given someone that you failed to take yourself?

Protect yourself.
I told my friend this not too long ago. I relayed the story to my mom. My mom said that it’s too bad I don’t defend myself as well as I defend my friends. She’s got a point.
Many years ago, I let someone else run my life. Huge mistake. My second piece of advice is to not let anyone run your life.
Maybe I’ve been watching too many episodes of “Pretty Little Liars” because I am more than ready to defend myself lately. Thanks to my mom, I took a self-defense class. I’m not afraid to use those lessons. Well . . . maybe a little but I’ll still use what I learned.
Lucas came home unexpectedly the other night. Let’s just say that I locked myself in the bathroom and looked for weapons. Lucky for him that he coughed so I felt safe enough to put away the curling iron. My second option was a straightening iron.
In most cases, if it’s you or them, you should choose you. Choose self-preservation.
