Sleep Deprived Music Review: Tallies

The Toronto-based band, Tallies, is coming out with a new album tomorrow, January 11. Some people might categorize them as dream pop, like Mazzy Star. I think even the band might say that they are a mix of dream pop, surf rock and shoegaze.

I don’t disagree but they sound a bit more upbeat and new wave, like the Go-Go’s. Maybe Tallies will fill the void that the Go-Go’s left in my heart.

Ironically, I do like the song “Beat the Heart.” My New Year’s resolution is to listen to more positive or more upbeat music. I feel like listening to a different playlist will help to fight the winter blues. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that Tallies will be on everyone’s playlist this year and for many more years.
