Sleep Deprived Music Review: Lightning Dust

Lightning Dust

Lighting Dust will be releasing their new album, Spectre, on October 4. The music feels like folk-rock but with a weird, spooky energy. If they had been around in the 60s, they would have fit in on the Woodstock stage.

It is reminiscent of a mixture of Mazzy Star and a little bit of Annie Lennox with a modern folk rock band like Rusted Root in the background. Honestly, that would be an amazing band in real life so Lightning Dust has not missed the mark. My favorite songs on the album are “Run Away” and “Joanna.”

Band members Amber Webber and Joshua Wells are currently based in Vancouver. They were both in the band Black Mountain until 2017. Lightning Dust started out as a side project.

If I could listen to Spectre while reading on a rainy day, it would be a perfect day. Also, it would be a good soundtrack for making a Halloween costume or searching Pinterest for pumpkin spice everything recipes.
