In celebration of drummers, please welcome Eric Miko Findlay to the blog.
Call me crazy but I have always loved drummers. Animal is my favorite muppet as well as drummer and always will be. Who is your favorite drummer? It always makes me sad that drummers don’t get the spotlight as often as they should. I mean, except for Sheila E., who might be my favorite drummer who is an actual person. Where would most bands be without a drummer? So in celebration of drummers, please welcome Eric Miko Findlay to the blog.
Interview
Where have you been staying in 2020?
Hermosa Beach, CA
What have you been doing during times of quarantine?
First couple months of the Stay At Home order, I did just that. I have a drum spot I’d go to at night and work. Seahaven just cut a record before the world shut down- so we were mixing and going through the motions of planning and executing it’s release. Without that creative outlet of drumming and putting out a record the quarantine could have been a much darker time for me haha. Thankful.
Have you found or re-found any hobbies?
I started cooking a bit more, or taking it more seriously rather since I had the time. Mostly just focused on drums and taking advantage of this “down time” I’ll likely not get again for a while. I’d wake up and do some pad work, watch some videos during the afternoon to spark inspiration and then head to the studio and put some work in. Every-single-day.
What have you been listening to lately?
LOATHE – ” I Let It in and It Took Everything”
Has your songwriting process changed this year?
That process is always evolving as time goes on. This year it’s only been finishing up our record, recording, and releasing it. Stoked to start creating again and keeping that momentum up.
Is there any message that you would like to convey to fans or soon-to-be fans?
Support physical music and buy a t-shirt from your favorite artists.
What is something positive that has happened to you during 2020?
A greater appreciation for drums/music and how therapeutic that is during trying times. Also simple things like a walk around the neighborhood, fresh air and seeing loved ones.
