Warped Tour ’18 Photos: Falling in Reverse

My oldest kid wanted to see this band. She picked out the best seats. Her sister, Warped Tour Buddy Sophie, spent most of the time before the show trying to take a nap. I feel like I haven’t taught her anything about what to do at a concert.

Warped Tour ’18 Photos: Sharptooth

The biggest disappointment of Warped Tour was not being able to find the line for the Sharptooth tent. Motionless in White played immediately after Sharptooth so the crowd . . . omg . . . . so many people.

Sharptooth kicked ass. Every time I turned to make sure my Warped Tour Buddy wasn’t getting trampled, I was drawn back to Sharptooth. Luckily, Warped Tour Buddy wasn’t even stepped on by the really drunk lady who was shamelessly flirting with some hot dude. You go drunk lady! She played a mean air guitar. So she has that going for her.

Warped Tour ’18 Photos: Kaizer Solzie

Kaiser Solzie noticed me! They played an amazing, energetic show on the stage by the Rehydration Station. It’s a very, large semi-captive thirsty audience.

The audience by the stage was a bit smaller. So, of course, they saw me taking pictures and wondering how I escaped from the parent tent.

If you get a chance to see Kaiser Solzie anywhere, go to their show and buy all of their merch. They are all really cool guys.

Warped Tour ’18 Photos: Kublai Khan

We didn’t catch the whole set of Kublai Khan. Warped Tour Buddy Sophie was getting overheated so we went to find some shaded place to sit and drink water.

Also, since we were only there a few minutes, I didn’t get any closer. It’s fine. Sometimes you have to make sacrifices for your Warped Tour Buddy.

Tatiana DeMaria owned the stage. She is also hilarious. My Warped Tour Buddy was sitting on the ground while we waited for Tatiana’s show to start. When she heard Tatiana, Warped Tour Buddy was mesmerized. WTB even stood in line to get her autograph. 1st autograph ever!

Check out her website.

Ghost Town

There are a few bands that I’ve missed seeing this summer because being a responsible adult is a bummer. Ghost Town is one of those bands. For now, I will have to be okay with following their YouTube videos and Instagram.
By the way, here are some questions answered by Alix Koochaki, guitarist/vocalist,  from ghost town. Thank goodness that playing 20 questions with bands still falls in the category of being an adult.

Band members of Ghost Town are Kevin “Ghost” McCullough, Alix “Monster” Koochaki and Manny “MannytheDrummer” Dominick.

Little Ghost dude today in Detroit! 👻🤘🏻

This is the best picture.

Who is the best gamer in the group?

Probably Kevin. Our skills and appreciation for the gaming world are mismatched. But I would put Kev against anyone in a match of Mortal Combat.

What is your favorite rock and roll movie

“Rock Star” with Mark Walburg. Such an amazing movie. A tale of fame from rise to fall and all the highs and lows in between. I hope to have a rock n roll story to tell like that some day. Steel Dragon ROCKS!

How has your summer tour been so far?

It’s been great. Full of long days of hard work and playing shows and meeting our Ghosts. Each night I think we can all go to sleep knowing we’ve done the best job we could have done that day and left our positive mark wherever we could.

Do you have a favorite charity?

Loves Not Dead. One our good friends, who we brought on tour with us, has started a great thing in efforts to help those less fortunate and without a home. Each day on tour with us he would feed the homeless and continues to do that and spread that positivity. We will definitely be doing more with ‘Loves Not Dead’ in the future.

Did you expect to be successful? Is is ever surreal?

There has always been a clear vision of seeing myself doing what I am doing today, and the vision grows and takes shape every day. Sometimes in the middle of all the chaos it is easy to get caught up in the daily, but when I’m able to take a step back and reflect, it is definitely a surreal thing. Each day, not only for myself, but my fellow artist and musician you grow and learn and come one step closer to fulfilling what it is we are meant to do as artists and with our art. I will forever be on that journey I feel like, I can only hope my expression finds its way to others and gives them an ounce of hope or help to help them achieve what it is inside them.

Where was your first show? How different was it than your last show?

My very first show as a “band” was in the backyard of one of my best friends house on a makeshift stage his dad made. We played covers for all of our parents and made our first dollar! Ha. Our last show was in Ohio on the Vans Warped Tour in front of FANS! It is truly an honor each day to have the opportunity to play our music to people that genuinely feel some type of way about what we do and what we have created.

Who has been your favorite band at Warped Tour?

This year my favorite band to watch would have to be a tie between I See Stars and The Maine. Both bands have become friends of mine which is a surreal thing in itself being that I grew up in bands watching those bands play and tour and here I am now doing it with them and have the privilege of calling them friends.

Have you ever visited a real Ghost Town?

Yes. Definitely. I’d say multiple. Touring the United States numerous times there have been many time where I ask myself…”who, lives here? How is there life here?”

Have you had any paranormal experiences?

If you check out one of our vlogs on our YouTube channel you can see one caught on camera. It was at our favorite venue, The Masquerade in Atlanta, which just so happens to be haunted.

Getting out of the Clothing Comfort Zone: #MidLifeLuv

Tomorrow, I will be going outside of my comfort zone in a million ways. It’s exciting and nerve-wracking. I will probably embarrass my kids and my parents with the one or two hundred pictures that I’ll Instagram to everyone.

You can watch the spectacle from here:

Right now, I’m dressed in my typical mom outfit. Shorts and a t-shorts. Flip-flops too. It’s all age appropriate. Nothing that I’m wearing is too sexy.

Tomorrow, it will all change.I’m going to Warped Tour – all day long. My outfit will be sexy maybe.

People might say, “You’re too old.”

“Too chubby.”

“Too much like someone’s mom.”

“Too much like my mom.”

“Toooo sexy for an old chick.” “Old lady, I feel uncomfortable.”

All I can say, is that I’m not the fattest, oldest, least sexy person that will be there. Yes, I will be old enough to be almost everyone’s mother. It’s a role that I’ve accepted. I have to stop myself from getting out the band-aids and tissues sometimes.

There’s always one person, usually a roadie, that is older than me. Thank goodness for roadies, right?!

Of course, they could not think that I look sexy at all. In fact, it might be a dumb outfit. However, this outfit will be born out of the need to not wear flip-flops in the mosh pit. Flip-flops are dangerous at a concert where you can have your feet and other body parts stepped on – all day long.

You might think I’m even thinking like an old lady. Damned right! I’m an old lady that doesn’t want her toes broken.

So this old chick will be wearing her boots – her very comfortable, dependable black boots. The knee-high socks will just be a bonus to keep it interesting. I’ve never worn boots and knee-highs together.

nerdyOkay, maybe not never.

This was an isolated case. You can’t even prove that I’m wearing boots. These aren’t even my clothes.

Yes, tomorrow will be a day spent outside of the comfort zone. I absolutely cannot wait. I’m ready, except for buying the aforementioned knee-highs.

So I’ll be out buying knee-highs and preparing to embarrass my kids.

It’s what I do.

while she sleeps : #a to z challenge

At this point in the A to Z Challenge, I have listened to an incredible number of bands. I never know what to expect anymore. Some bands are really good, while others are sort of out of tune.

There is no doubt in my mind that While She Sleeps is better than your average rock band. What a relief! It’s awesome when bands are really good. It’s even better when they have British accents. Other accents are fine but British accents are so cool. Why is that?!

Their current album is called, “Brainwashed.” While She Sleeps will be touring in Europe until June. Their first U.S. date is June 19 in Pomona, California. I’m pretty sure they are playing at the Warped Tour in Cleveland. It looks like I might have found my band for getting in the mosh pit.

Lucas and I have had the mosh pit conversation several times. He says maybe I should not pick Slipknot. No offense Slipknot but I’m not ready for that mosh pit if my boyfriend doesn’t want to go into it.

So While She Sleeps, I pick you for moshing!
