In the DC comics universe, a planet called “Htrae” (“Earth”
spelled backwards) is populated with bizarre versions of
superheroes. A Seinfeld episode made the idea of this
Bizarro World popular, where the characters encountered
their opposite selves. Craft a scene in which you meet an
opposite version of yourself — or a story in a bizarre, backwards
world.
While I was at the airport, this woman and I bumped into each other at the baggage claim. She seemed so familiar, even though she wasn’t like anyone I knew. She was so polished and had designer everything. I bought my whole wardrobe at the local thrift store. Polished is not the word for my current hairdo. She didn’t have one shiny hair out of place.
When she took off her million-dollar sunglasses, I realized that she could have been my twin. We could have traded places and no one would know the difference. I wonder what it would be like to have her life instead of mine. What is is like to be so professional and pulled together rather than running a household on a tight budget?
If we trade places, will she excel at my life too?
