Ten Years of Mommyhood: NaBloPoMo

This summer is BlogHer’s 10th anniversary! Tell us something YOU have been doing for ten straight years.

Well, let’s see . . . I have been a mom for almost 13 years. My middle kid is going to be ten this year.
I have also been avoiding roller coasters. This year I did go on Ocean Motion at Cedar Point. I’m not sure if that counts as a roller coaster. It’s a pretty mild ride. Of course, I still got a little bit panicked in the middle of the ride. It always happens like that – the panic hits when I’m stuck and can’t leave.
When I was a new mom, I felt a similar feeling of panic. What if I wasn’t a good mom? What if there wasn’t enough food? I don’t panic as much anymore. By the time I had the third kid, mommyhood was not so scary.
It didn’t hurt that I took parenting classes when I struggled with some mommyhood issues. No one should be ashamed that they got help so that they were a better parent. More parents should be educated about how to be a good parent. I’ve seen several stories in the paper this week about parents letting their children live in filthy conditions. So before it gets to this point, get some help, throw away the trash, do the dishes. Basically, do whatever you have to do to keep your kids. Start by keeping your kids clean, healthy and happy. It is the most important job ever. EVER!!!
If the following links are not helpful, there are resources in your area. Daycares, hospitals, therapists, churches, etc. all have information to help parents.
