It turns out that your neighbor on the plane/bus/train (or the person sitting at the next table at the coffee shop) is a very, very chatty tourist. Do you try to switch seats, go for a non-committal brief small talk, or make this person your new best friend?
While we were at the Denver International Airport, we found an area to charge our phones next to chairs. Chairs next to outlets is a hot commodity at the airport. I saw some guys sitting outside of an airport store charging their phones. It looked like they had camped out for awhile.
It wasn’t long before other people found the outlets. Lucas had fallen asleep under the chairs. I offered to plug in her phone so she didn’t have to crawl over him. She said, “Oh, I think I want to talk before I plug it in.”
A few hours later, she hung up the phone. When she started talking about chickens on the farm she grew up on, I unplugged my phone and repacked my backpack. It seemed like a good time to find a different, quieter seat.
By the way, have you guys seem the airport mascot at the Denver airport? His nickname is Bluecifer. I think I should have gone to sit by him. He doesn’t seem very talkative.
