20 Really and Truly Intriguing People

Yesterday, I noticed that People Magazine had an issue of 25 Most Intriguing People. Someone had an issue from December 2014. I can’t say that I agree with their choices. In my opinion, Taylor Swift is not intriguing. She’s probably very nice and writes nice songs. Nice does not equal intriguing. So I’m going to write my own list of intriguing people. It’s just my opinion. Feel free to make your own list.

1. Harper Lee – author harper-lee

I can’t wait to read “Go Set a Watchman.”

2. Malala Yousafzai – activist/author

About holley4734

I could be the worst cook in America. My boyfriend tells his friends about my cooking disasters. I'm glad someone is amused. I like movies, music, comic books and corny jokes. View all posts by holley4734

I agree with all but Russell Brandt. He upset me when he married Katy Perry and became immediately unfaithful to her. Why even marry her. She spoke about her being hurt by this and believing in his loving her.
I would change him for maybe another funny actor . I love your musical choice and 2 photographers. I am a little guilty of loving Kate and William with their adorable children 🙂

He’s a jerk. An intriguing jerk. He can be so nice to other people . . . He confuses me. I don’t want to date him. I like to hear him talk or something. 😉

I live 20 minutes north of Columbus in Delaware. 🙂

    • holley4734

OMG!! We don’t live that far apart!?! Awesome!! I used to live in Columbus!

      • reocochran

I knew you were intrigued by Russell. 🙂 I like his humor and we can’t ban all the famous people who split up either.
I cannot believe Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner just broke up! I like them both. . .
Your living close is cool, probably our paths may cross without even knowing it! Or can meet someday for coffee. 🙂 Thanks for sharing about the author of “Orange is the New Black.” Great to know she is a local author. I may look to see if she is speaking around here. Take care!
Oh, if you spot me next weekend (July 16 and 17) with barbecue sauce on my face at the Jazz and Rib fest, look the other way:)

I miss the rib fest! Always a good time 🙂

Steve Buscemi! I am with you for some Harper Lee, Malala, Gaiman, Banksy, Lennox.

I was never a great Brand fan, but when he seemed to go through a metamorphosis, wrote his book Revolution, started The Trews, began meditating and reading eastern philosophies, I paid more attention as we had something in common. I thought he had some good ideas, but he often suffered from tunnel vision.

Unfortunately, after two years of fighting for a revolution, being anti-establishment, anti capitalist and urging people not to vote, he did an about turn recently. The revolutionist revolted against his own revolution you could say.

But yeah, back to Steve! That would be fun!

This is a pretty great list. I love your first two and I love Brand and The Trews. Excellent musical, author, and activist choices.

I’m totally #21, right? I’d add to your list Angela Heywood, the subject of my MA thesis. In the mid-late 1800’s she and her husband published a newspaper in which she said that we should abolish marriage as she felt it was an institution of slavery for women. She said we should talk about “cocks” and “cunts” and “fucking.” Her husband got arrested 5 times for the stuff she wrote (because at that time a woman was sorta the property of her husband.) You wouldn’t expect to see a headline with those words today, so for 1872 she was pretty radical. I’m also pretty excited for Go Set a Watchman. I’m first on the list for the library loan on my kindle so hopefully very soon we can catch up and share thoughts on it!

  • Paul

    I love your list.

I’ve had “Go Set a Watchman” on order ever since the news broke! I can’t wait. I have the 14th circled on my calendar.

I disagree with you about Taylor Swift. I can’t stand her music, but I admire her as a person. I love the way she stood up to Apple, regarding musicians being paid fairly – and she won. I love the way she stood up to John Cleese, regarding his sexist remarks – and she won, I love the way she’s NOT nice when she needs to be.

  • NotAPunkRocker

I developed a crush on Ruby Rose while watching the latest season of OITNB. 🙂

I have mixed feelings about the “new” Harper Lee book. I want to read it, but I am worried it is more of the people taking advantage of her to make money and it isn’t really “authorized”. IDK, I hope to hear more later.
