Plume is a webcomic by K. Lynn Smith that I found on Tumblr. Smith was agreeable to doing an interview. Check it out.

What are you working on now?
I am currently working on Plume, my western webcomic. I have a few other projects in the works, but they are still in their early stages.
Who has influenced you the most as an artist?
I grew up on Disney and Don Bluth films, so my style has definitely taken a cue from them. I also love Hayao Miyazaki’s story-telling ability. As a result, my work is “Disney meets Anime”.
Who is your favorite female superhero/villain/comic book character?
I have become a fan of Jessica Jones, simply because she is a reluctant superhero. She is damaged and jaded, but still manages to come out on the good guy’s side.
Do you think people expect a certain type of art from you since you are female?
Personally? No. I haven’t really experienced anything like that. The number of women in the comic book world are growing more and more. The only responses I’ve received have been positive.
How often do you go to comic book conventions? Do you enjoy conventions?
This year, I am able to go to more shows all across the USA. I love them. To be in a room filled with passionate people is just amazing.
Are you an introvert or extrovert?
Good question. I like to think of myself as an outgoing introvert. If given the choice of going out or staying in, 9 times out of 10, I will stay in. But when I go out, I have a great time.
Where do you find your inspiration?
Art, lovely comments and a good story. If I am feeling less than inspired, I will prowl the internet for inspiration.
What do you do if you have writer’s block?
No joke, I take a shower. Some of my best ideas have come from shampoo-rinse-and-repeat. Is that strange?
Have you had any interesting or awkward experiences since you’ve been an artist/writer?
Mmm… Not sure? My brain has a safety feature where it blocks out all awkward moments.
Beverage of choice?
Coffee. I love coffee. Coffee is the best.
When was the last time that you dressed up for Halloween?
Last year! I wore horns and face paint and went as an ‘Ex Girlfriend’.
What do you want people to know about you?
I love what I do. I have sort’ve stumbled into the comic book world, but I’m here to stay. It has been the best experience of my life so far.
