The album that I’m in love with this week is Side Pony by Lake Street Dive. NOT drive people! D-I-V-E!
It’s jazzy, bluesy and a little old school R & B. It’s everything that I’ve been looking for lately. It will make you wish you had someone to dance and be nostalgic with besides the cat. My cat is not into dancing or nostalgia.
I was looking in the section of artists similar to Alabama Shakes on Spotify. This band is not exactly like the Alabama Shakes. Sometimes bands similar to other bands are not exactly the band that you are looking for. Sometimes you hit the jackpot.
The Lake Street Dive band members are Rachael Price (lead vocals), Mike “McDuck” Olson (trumpet, guitar), Bridget Kearney (upright bass), and Mike Calabrese (drums).
I love the Rachael Price’s voice. Musically, they are pretty excellent and darned near perfect. They met at the New England Conservatory in Boston. So yeah, they know what they are doing.
The album cannot go on forever. I wish that it could. It can be put on repeat and that will have to be enough.
Everyone should go listen to this album immediately!!
