It’s always exciting when someone recommends a band and I like them. In this case, the band is Discrepancies.
They were just signed to InVogue Records. It’s a pretty big deal. My kid’s boyfriend, Cats&Guitars Guy, and I were talking about Discrepancies. His first comment was, “Oooooh. They’re on InVogue Records.
Neither one of us are too much into rap. However, I like rap mixed with rock music. Cat&Guitars Guy and I also had a conversation about cowboy rap, which we both dislike. (On a side note, he did not know that Laurence Fishburne was Cowboy Curtis and in The Matrix.)
Just to clarify – Discrepancies is not cowboy rap. They are a really decent band with a really decent album, The Awakening.
Three good things about this album:
- The music, especially the guitar, is kickass.
- The lyrics actually have some meaning. Listen to Wake Up .
- The combination of rap and singing is good. Rock the Show is my favorite song. Wake Up is a close 2nd.
