The Real Deal: #Blogtember

The real you vs. the online you. Are they the same or different?

My online me is almost exactly the same as the real life me. If only you guys could see me napping, “forgetting” to do the dishes and driving badly, then it would be so real. It’s all me just in various forms. Some days I wear more makeup than other days. Other times, my biceps look very Amazon-like or python-like. When did that happen? I’m not even working out or anything. Obviously. 🙂 However, I’m not above selling tickets to the gun show.

energy

This is pretty accurate.

Yes. Also true. This is how my mother has seen my face from age 8 until the present.

That one time I ate ravioli out of a martini glass. Of course, it’s on film.

beachhat

This is me sans ravioli. I should always wear this hat. It’s so fancy. 🙂

I found Koji! :) He is awesome! One person can make a difference.
Yeah, the camera, wrist-bands and cartoon t-shirt are real things that I have on a regular basis.

5 Books: #blogtember

The 5 books that have impacted your life the most.

I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings – Maya Angelou. All books by Maya Angelou have positively affected my life.

cagedbird

The Joy Luck Club – Amy Tan. I named one of my kids after a character.

joyluck

100 Years of Solitude – Gabriel Garcia Marquez. It was so different than anything else. It opened up the idea of possibility.

100years

Are You There God? It’s Me Margaret. – Judy Blume. This could’ve been about me or any other girl. I didn’t feel like I was the only one with problems.

judyblume

That Handbook about Sex that my mom gave me when I was 13.

hussy

Just kidding! It wasn’t that one.

I can’t remember the title but I remember EVERYTHING else. So boys really don’t have tails? And their what goes where? There’s a third hole? A third hole? Holy crap.

Us in Pictures: #blogtember

Your current relationship status. If dating/married, give us a glimpse of your story! If single, share about this special season.

This is my boyfriend, Lucas. And me. Honestly, he’s the talented, charming, funny one. I just go along to take pictures.

One time, he walked in on me looking at picture of Brad Pitt for tooooo long. He didn’t seem bothered. We had a good laugh.

We laugh a lot, except for the times when my GPS is a liar. She’s probably trying to break us apart.

Summertime is Mermaid Time: #Blogtember

Tell us about your favorite season. Why is it your favorite and what does it say about you?

Summer
Summer is my favorite season by far. This means that I’m always cold and the only time that I’m comfortable is when it’s too freakin’ hot for everyone else. It also means that I should be a mermaid
Summer is also the only time that it’s possible can pretend to be a mermaid outside. For the rest of the year, it’s mermaid bathtub time, mermaid ice fishing or be a mermaid in the pumpkin patch. It’s not the same.
This summer I didn’t devote as much time to trying to become a mermaid. Next summer, it will be mermaid clothes (or lack of) for as long as possible.

Jordan Catalano is still hot . . . also, a letter to a young self.

Write a letter to sixteen-year-old you. Any advice or funny stories?

jordancat
Probably not. I’m just putting up a brave front.

Dear Holley,

This is a list of things that you should or should not do. Take my advice. You need it desperately.

Things to Do

  1. Stick to a budget. The occasional splurge is ok. Someday you will want to retire so don’t buy all of the shoes.
  2. Be more pro-active. If you want to work at a magazine or wherever, make it happen.
  3. Be pickier with your boyfriends. Much, much pickier.
  4. You’ll have a chance to go to Europe. You should take it.
  5. Be a better friend. It’s not as easy as to maintain relationships as “Friends” makes it look.
  6. Go see Guns n’ Roses before Slash leaves. Axl has the rights to the band, I guess. It’s never the same after Slash makes his departure. NEVER

Things Not to Do

  1. Don’t wait until you’re 20 to get your license. You’ll miss out on lots of cool stuff because you’re waiting for your mommy to drive you places.
  2. Don’t settle for less than what you deserve in any category.
  3. Don’t dye your hair blonde. Your hair is too dark. It won’t work and your mom will still be pissed 20 years later because you ruined the college graduation pictures. Ruined is also a matter of opinion.
