Biggest Fear: Blogtober 14

What is my biggest fear?

There are so many. Where should I start?

1. Men wearing Masks/Clowns. In other words, the Boogieman.

You can read more about that here

2. Heights. Roller Coasters, bridges, escalators, stadiums with spaces between the stairs.

It looks a little fun.
It looks a little fun.

3. Mice. Cute little mice. Cute little mice with creepy little feet and creepy tails. Not to mention the fleas that they carry. And the plague. The mice and their fleas get the blame for the plague.
We had a mouse in the house once. Little Sister #2 thought I should get off of the chair and protect her. Maybe she’s right. I wasn’t coming down without a broom, gloves and some mace – pepper spray or the weapon, whatever is available. On second thought, I’m not sure about that either. I need to quit thinking about mice now otherwise I might never leave the chair.

I was a Bully Once: Blogtober 14

It pains me to admit that I was a bully once for a very brief period of time. It may have only been for a few months, which is still too long to be a bully.

I teased this girl. I think I peeked inside her pencil box once. She didn’t deserve to be teased.
Other people teased her because of who her family members were. I’m not sure why I made her life awful for a few months. She reminded me of myself. Maybe I was projecting my self-loathing. However, it was more likely that I was just a mean girl. Teenagers are the worst.

Then I realized what a jerk I was being to this girl, who really needed a friend instead of a bully. Since then I’ve tried to remember to be a friend to people instead of a mean girl.

No one really likes a mean girl.

P.S. Regina George followed me on Twitter. 🙂 I’m not sure how to feel about that. She probably wouldn’t let me sit at the lunch table. I’ve worn sweats two days in a row.

I am an Expert . . . Blogtober 14

I am an expert

  • procrastinator. I should have done this blog yesterday.
  • starter of projects. I’m working on at least two as we speak.
  • todolist
  • idea generator. It usually sounds good in theory but not as good in practice. Remember that one idea of having a hangover remedy delivery service? Genius in theory.
  • friendmaker. I have a Girl Scout badge that says so.
  • girlscout2
  • Couponer. I haven’t reached the EXTREME level yet. It’s a work in progress.
  • of the DVD system at work. Or so the residents and a few co-workers think. 🙂 Two weeks ago, Lucas changed the remote of our DVD to a Playstation remote. I was totally out of my element and could not get it to work. I didn’t cry but we almost had one less remote due to an unfortunate accident. Can you defenestrate a Playstation remote? It’s just a hypothetical question. If anyone asks, I was never here and you don’t know me anyway.
  • Googler. I don’t know if it’s a real thing. Hold on while I Google it. Oh wait, Google doesn’t recognize “Googler.” Well, they should.

Funniest Christmas Ever: Blogtober

Funniest Memory from childhood

I wasn’t exactly a child when it occurred. I might have been about 15 or 16 years old. It was the first thing that I though of when I read the prompt.

Let me just say that my mom is funny. She reduces people to tears of laughter with her stories on a regular basis. This has been happening for as long as I can remember.

For several years at Christmas, she would do a roast of my grandpa. She would find all of these ridiculous presents and work them into the skit. She was Carrot Top before there was a Carrot Top. Everyone would laugh and have a good time.

However, there was one year that she dressed Grandpa up like a Christmas tree. My cousins and I either wore reindeer antlers or a red nose. We might have all been trying to be Rudolph. It was one of the funniest memories of my entire life.

*My grandma also gets an honorable mention for donning a Santa beard during the following Christmas celebration.

Favorite Quote: Blogtober 14

Favorite Quote

There are so many great quotes. I have a board on Pinterest dedicated to quotes. My favorite quote changes often but this quote is always at the top of the list. It makes me laugh. It makes me cry. (I’m getting older and I’m just too sensitive.)

Sometimes you have to be tough, even though you want to cry. I know people that are a 100 years old. They’ve been through the  Great Depression and two World Wars. They didn’t have the Internet and they survived.

Old Age Ain’t No Place for Sissies. So true Bette. So true.

Favorite Fall Recipe: Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

Favorite Fall Recipe.

I am not a cook or a baker. So I’m going to share a recipe from another blogger that makes my favorite fall cookie. Pumpkin chocolate chip cookies remind me of my grandma. She made them every fall.

So enjoy this recipe from Inside BruCrew life.

Best Halloween: Blogtober 14

Best Halloween

My favorite Halloween? There were so many that I enjoyed. However, I especially loved the Halloweens that I celebrated while in college. There was something special about getting together with my friends to put all of our costumes together. The first Halloween in college was so much fun. I dressed up like a princess. I think there’s even a picture of me in the college yearbook.

FYI: I would have done the wig and Carmen Miranda fruit headdress differently. There has got to be a way to make things stay on better.

You would not believe how hard I had to search for these pictures. Apparently, it takes longer to find things when they are put away where they are supposed to be. Actually, I put the photo albums in a new place. I’m still adjusting to the change.

Still Kickin’ It: Blogtober 14

Letter to yourself in 10 years

Dear Lady,

How are you? I hope that we’re doing well.

Have you dyed your hair yet? It’s probably time to start doing that. I can’t believe we’re 50.

What have you been doing? Are we a grandma yet? How is the bucket list coming along?

I hope that we’re still travelling and dancing.  Are we still going to comic book conventions and concerts? We had so much fun doing all of that stuff. I hope we got to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers before they retired or something.

Just remember what Aaliyah said, “Age aint’ nothing but a number.” Keep doing what makes us happy. We don’t need that rocking chair yet. We’re still young at heart

Me @ 40
