Is laughter the best medicine? I’m not a doctor but I’ve seen my share of people who are ill and/or depressed. What I do know is that while laughter may not cure illness, it provides a few moments of relief from feeling ill.
While I was taking care of a resident whose health was failing, I always found a way to make her laugh. Once, I fell on my bottom when I was putting her shoes on. I didn’t think we would ever stop laughing. If I thought my body could take it, I would be a pratfall comedian to make residents laugh.
My middle daughter helped me to get over having a grumpy day. She started doing this dance while she was walking down the hall. I laughed for at least an hour. But my foul mood was gone. I think about that dance whenever I am feeling like Ms. Crabby Pants. How can anyone stay crabby when they are laughing?
Some researchers think that laughter helps with burning calories. If that’s true, I will be here laughing all day so I can lose a few pounds. 🙂 I will be accepting jokes and videos of people walking into glass doors to help with the laughter/calorie burning experiment. Thanks!
P.S. Here are some crabby pants. I think they are awesome!! 🙂
There is nothing like a good laugh ! I had one today until I cried! Now I will think of Crabby Pants : )
🙂 I saw a picture of someone wearing sweats that said crabby pants. Hilarious!!
I guess you didn’t take a photograph : ) ~
No. It was before I had a blog. I remembered after I made the post. Will have to look for it.
I thoroughly enjoy laughing. I once nicknamed myself “giggles” (a long time ago) because I can laugh so much. I actually used to even get in trouble because once I really get rolling, it’s very hard for me to stop.
Also, the “cure” works well. In fact, sometimes when I’m being ill-tempered, Hun has this way of being so humorous that even when I don’t want to laugh I do. At that point, we both get a good laugh at me 😉
I have a loud laugh. 🙂 Hasn’t gotten me in trouble in awhile.
Haha! Me, too! I once laughed so loud that part of the restaurant turned around to see what was so funny!! Interestingly enough, I wasn’t the least bit embarrassed, probably because I didn’t notice! 🙂
