NaBloPoMo: Vicious, Scandalous Cycle

F.H. Bradley said, “There are persons who, when they cease to shock us, cease to interest us.” Do we live in a society that needs scandal?

We don’t need scandal. However, our society loves scandal. You could say we even thrive on it. The media seems to feed off of the public’s appetite for the next thing.
It’s a vicious cycle. The public complains about how awful the media is, how they act like vultures. However, all of the Mr. and Mrs. Jones’ are the ones watching the news, reading the newspaper or whatever story is trending on Facebook.
I’m guilty of it too. I read the paper to see what kind of crazy things are happening. Then I read the jail roster, mostly to see if any of my ex-boyfriend’s are in jail.
My friend just posted a funny picture of a cat looking out the window to be nosy. It’s true. I have another friend that has binoculars for such an occasion. He says they are for bird-watching but we know the truth.

“Just a small town girl – living in a lonely world.” Concert tickets are practically essential. Musicals are the key to life. I like movies, music, books, and corny jokes.

  1. Okay, now that was funny! I will peek through the blinds if there are flashing lights on our neighborhood, not gonna lie! Fortunately, it’s rare for that to happen! I’m so bad about not following scandals and such… I just can’t handle that much drama in my life!

  2. I agree – I worked in the media. They definitely distort the truth, but if no one read it, I wouldn’t have had a job… hmmmm…
