If you search for Persona on Twitter, you will find several bands named Persona. Twitter also has some accounts related to a game also called Persona. All of those other Persona’s may be great but the one you want to find is an Indie rock band from New York. I do think it would be interesting if Persona of New York toured with Persona of Tunisia for a few shows.
Until then, enjoy the following interview with Persona of New York.
Did you know that there is another band called Persona from Tunisia?
Haha no, we had no idea lol. But they’re gonna have to give us our name back!!
Does anyone in the band have a bucketlist? If so, what’s on it?
We all have bucket lists, and I believe that most people in the world have one to some certain extent. Some similarities between us and our own bucket lists would be traveling as much of the world as possible, marrying the right woman and creating a beautiful family with her, getting our music in the ears of as many people as possible.
Where was your first concert?
Tom, Costas, & Sam: The Pop Disaster Tour 2002 (Blink-182, Green Day, Saves the Day) CJ: Taking Back Sunday & Weezer
How do you stay motivated on the days when motivation is nowhere to be found?
I think its a balancing act. You gotta push through the fire and flames. It is easier said than done, but after awhile it becomes a part of you. You also need to know days to just put it down. Walk away and take a breather. Not every day or moment is going to go your way, just deal with it as best as possible and know when to take a breather and come back with a fresh mind.
What did you like the most about the 90s?
The 90’s were a simpler time. It was warm, happy and bright. People weren’t so miserable and angry. The world didn’t feel as cold back then. The music was much better haha. Were all 90s babies so to us that time period is sacred.
Do you put much stock in astrology? By the way, what’s your sign?
We definitely believe it to an extent. Tom is a firm believer and loves the stars and space. Tom & CJ are both Gemini, Costas is Cancer, and Sam is Scorpio.
What is your favorite thing about summertime?
The freedom, The warmth, the liveliness. Summer is such a dear time and it is one where friends and family get together for bbq’s, beach days, or road trips. I hate the cold New York winters. Me and 20 degree weather just don’t mix, lol. I love the longer days, the amazing memories, the wind down to wind up feeling. Summer is just so special.
I read that some of the band members have survived car accidents and house fires. So glad that everyone survived – that is a blessing. What do you think gets you through the really tough times?
I think to each his own, but it truly is better to die on your feet than to live on your knees. Dark times and tragedies do not have to define where you are going. They do not have to define who you are. You conquer and grow. We have all faced our share of dark clouds. But they have only made us stronger individually and collectively. I respect so much the people going out there and proving to themselves their worth. No matter what or who tries to break you, you prevail. Life, my family, my friends, this band, this music, my future, my dreams, my hope, and my grit is what gets me through these tough times.
What do you want people to know about Persona?
We have been through a lot as a band collectively. Good times and bad times. But we truly believe in our music and we truly believe in each other. We want to reach out and make an impact on as many people as possible. But we also recognize that if we change one person’s life or thought of view, we have done our job and we have done it well. As far as what we are doing, We will be doing a northeast run in July and will be taking the month of August off to spend time with our friends and family. We are hitting the studio in November to record our third EP and are planning numerous tours throughout the country. Persona is Tom Spartinos, Costas Themistocleous, Sam Trestman and CJ Kostaras.
