I consider my sound Universoul or Soul/Fusion. For most of my childhood gospel was the only music I was allowed to listen to. I grew up in a pretty strict religious family. Once I was older and able to experience music in it’s entirety for myself, I basically went nuts to say the least. lol! I was a sponge for to every type of voice, sound and genre of music. Everything was fascinating. I gave myself my own music history lessons through documentaries, biographies as well as performance footage from almost every great artist from the beginning of the blues and jazz era all the way leading up to today’s hip hop. And of course everything in between. That was the most inspiring and confusing time as a young artist trying to find myself and sound. After one identity crisis after another I eventually surrendered to my overwhelming eclectic music palette. Instead of trying to control, I learned to balance and blend my influences. And that’s truly one of the main concepts I also apply to daily life. We as human beings so often try to control every single thing or don’t realize we have any control at all. But I believe it’s all about balance at the end of the day. We’re molding our life through our intent, thoughts and actions as we speak. However, life is an experience none the less so I try my best to just experience it as well as experiment with it. I encourage you all to do the same!
