What can you say about James Brown? He is usually credited with being the actual creator of funk plus the Godfather of Soul.

There are a few things that surprised me while learning more about James Brown.

  • He was involved with music from an early age – way before he went to prison as a teenager.
  • He knew how to play several instruments. I’ve never seen him play guitar but it makes sense.
  • People are surprised that he was a demanding bandleader. I’m not surprised. He’s not sloppy as far as being a musician or a bandleader. You have to be somewhat demanding to get the best out of people.

“Just a small town girl – living in a lonely world.” Concert tickets are practically essential. Musicals are the key to life. I like movies, music, books, and corny jokes.

  1. I always loved James Brown. I knew someone who grew up with him. His son Teddy and his band used to play for my high school dances before Teddy died in a car accident. And once when I was in high school, we were in a traffic jam (LOL) in my small town, and everyone in the car saw James Brown walk across the street right in front of us. I also got to see him in the Atlanta airport as he got off the same plane my aunt was travelling on. Good times!
