It’s been a long time since I’ve been to North Carolina. There were good memories of food. My ex’s mom, Ms. C, made the best fried chicken that I’ve ever had in my whole life. If I could, I would introduce the alternative rock band MKNLY to her. They would appreciate the good food and conversation. I have to go – I made myself hungry thinking of Ms. C’s fried chicken.
MKNLY’s vocalist Benjamin Green responded to all of the interview questions that I sent over. Enjoy the interview!
What is one thing that you would like to change about the world?
That’s a really tough question honestly. I would really just like to see alot more compassion in the world. Our children are growing up and seeing so much hate… just hurts to see.
If you could collaborate with any musician, who would it be?
That’s easy, I have always wanted to work with You Me At Six, and of course JoJo!
What do you like to read?
I’m actually not much of a reader! Used to be but these days I’m more of a documentary or history series buff.
Has being lonely ever led to terrible choices in your life?
Yeah, I can say it has. When I was younger I really felt abandoned by my father. It let to a lot of trying to figure out if it was my fault or questioning why, and though my dad, the man that raised me, as there, I always felt like a piece of me was missing. Part of my life I would never have. Which lead to me trying to hurt myself. But that was a long time ago and I’ve grown.
What do you do to keep loneliness at bay?
You know I don’t battle too much anymore. I have a loving family wife and kids. So I just focus on them and my music and trying to live the best life I can!
Do you get to eat at decent places while touring? Any favorites?
Ummm all depends on what you classify as decent! For me, tour life has always been about cheap fast food or lots of peanut butter sandwiches. Although on our last tour we ate at some place, I can’t think of the name of it, in Florida that made pancakes that were probably bigger serving dish! And they were so good!
Do you guys like to cook?
I make some mean spaghetti!!! And love grilling!
What do you want people to know about MKNLY?
We are super stoked and have worked really hard to get all this music prepared to give to the world! We love and appreciate everyone that has supported us or listened to our music!!! But mostly, if you are passionate about something or have dreams, chase it no matter what! Don’t allow yourself to regret never trying! You got this!!
