Mother Ghost: Sleep Deprived Music Review

Brothers Oscar and Thomas Flores of Mother Ghost will be releasing their debut album, Somnambulo.

Mother Ghost is a post-punk/New Wave band. There was a revolving door of drummers. So the trio switched to a duo with a drum machine.  The band is currently based in Houston, Texas.

Oscar’s voice reminds me of the singer of Dead or Alive. The music is like Depeche Mode but more punk. My favorite song on the album is “Hiding in a Dumpster Waiting for ICE Agents to Leave I.” I also really enjoyed listening to “Somnambulo.” If you are a fan of post-punk and New Wave, then definitely give Mother Ghost a chance.

There used to be this vampire bar in Columbus. It wasn’t really a literal vampire bar but it could have been. I don’t know if it is still there or if I could give you directions. Was it even real? I’m pretty sure it was an actual place. If I could find the bar, I would suggest that the DJ should play Mother Ghost.

Fun fact: Somnambulo is the Spanish word for sleepwalker. There are several sleepwalkers in my family. Some of us are still not allowed to have bats next to the bed.

Was I hypnotized to not remember anything but music and dancing? Who can say for sure? Would anyone even notice? I do have a history of sleepwalking. The people that hung out there definitely appreciated vampire movies, Anne Rice, and all things Gothic. The music was always interesting and remarkably good. The album by Mother Ghost would be a hit at vampire bars around the world.

Music Reviews

“Just a small town girl – living in a lonely world.” Concert tickets are practically essential. Musicals are the key to life. I like movies, music, books, and corny jokes.
